Welcome to Year 4 Brazil class. Our class teacher is Miss Holt and our Learning Support Assistants are Miss O'Sullivan (Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Barber.

Our topic this term is ‘The Romans’. This is a history based topic and we will begin by recapping on the Iron Age and Celts, moving onto looking at chronology and when the Roman period was. Later on in the term we will focus on the Roman invasion and the legacy they have left behind.


In Maths Mastery this half term we will be working on Multiplication and Division. We will be learning to multiply two digit numbers by one digit numbers using the grid method and dividing using the method chunking. We will be moving on to column multiplication and division.


Our science topic this term is Changing State, we will be lwarning all about solids, liquids and gases as well as the water cycle.


Spellings will be set by SFA teachers and will be given out on a Tuesday. Spelling tests will be carried out the following Tuesday.


-P.E is on a Wednesday and Friday (until further notice). We ask that all jewellery should be removed for these days as part of our Health and Safety policy.

- Due to the new library we are changing our approach to reading, class teachers will be listening to all children read and helping them to select an appropriate book.

- Reminder that Home-School Learning Logs should be in school each day. If you have any issues, please write in this for your class teacher to see and respond.

- A reminder that children in Year 4 do not need pencil cases in school. Please ensure your child keeps their pencil case at home.

- Swimming will start after Christmas and will be on a Monday morning. Further details will be sent out nearer the time.

Year 4 are lucky to have Mrs Taylor who is Forest School trained and will be holding weekly sessions in our school forest. Everyone will get a chance to participate over the course of the year. However, please remember that group sizes are small so letters and information packs will be sent out throughout the year.
